Albert œAl Keller, Jr., died peacefully in Wooster, Ohio, on August 22, at the age of 76, after a valiant battle with a long illness.   He was faithfully devoted to his wife Inell, his family and his community.
Al was born to the late Albert and Lue Berta Keller in Brownsville, Tennessee, on July 20, 1942. He was a graduate of Carver High School, and received a degree in animal husbandry from Tennessee State University.   He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sargent. After completing his masters degree in crop sciences and working in research and development at the University of Missouri, he joined the E.I DuPont Company as an agronomist and moved with Inell to Wooster.  More than 30 years later, he retired from DuPont and then worked for several years as a realtor.
Al and Inell were blessed with a marriage of more than 50 years. Al was devoted to their son and to his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.   He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He is dearly missed by his loved ones.
Al ™s service to the community was longstanding and extensive. Among other organizations, he was an officer of the Wayne County NAACP, commissioner of the Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority, board member of Hospice & Palliative Care of Wayne County, board member of the Pee Wee Hollow Inc., trustee of the Second Baptist Church, and vestry member of St. James Episcopal Church.   Throughout his life, he volunteered for schools and scouting organizations, and was an officer and member of several service clubs including the Jaycees, Westwood Ruritans, and Kiwanis. Al was always kind and generous, with a dry sense of humor and the patience to answer questions and provide explanation for those around him.
Al is survived by his wife Inell; his son Keenan, daughter-in-law Donna, and grandchildren Claire and Lillian, all of Washington, DC.; as well as a host of family members and friends.   He is preceded in death by his sisters Bertha, Bessie, and Opal.
Al will be remembered during calling hours at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29. Then he will return home to Brownsville, Tennessee, where his life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 1, at 11 a.m., in a funeral service at Faith Deliverance Church, 1193 Tamm St., Brownsville, TN, followed by a reception. All are welcome to attend.
