Betty Ann Smith, 87, of Wooster passed away at Smithville-Western Care Center on Wednesday, July 3, 2018.
She was born April 17, 1931 in Rainelle, West Virginia to Lonnie and Pluma Hanna. Betty moved with her family to a farm near Apple Creek when she was ten years old, and she graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1949. After working as a telephone operator, she married Kenneth R. Smith on September 30, 1951. They were happily married for 66 years until his death in January of this year .
Betty loved classic movies, reading biographies, and listening to music. She had a special fondness for visiting Blossom Music Center in the summer to listen to the Cleveland Orchestra.   Betty had a gift for listening and encouragement as well as a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her daughters Janet Thompson of Wooster and Donna (John) Gnatowski of Wadsworth; grandchildren Jason Gasser, Shelby Fiscus, and Tyler Gnatowski; five great-grandchildren along with four nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Harry and Robert Hanna, infant brother Marvin, and dear grandson, JJ Gnatowski.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the Service of Remembrance on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.   Inurnment will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.

 The family wishes to thank LifeCare Hospice for their loving care of Betty in her final weeks of life.
