WOOSTER – Bob J. Johnson, 82, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 after a brief illness.
He was born September 30, 1933 in Bremen, KY, the son of Melvin and Myrtle Higgs Johnson. He married Ruth Shankland on May 29, 1954. She survives.
He had worked at Rubbermaid and Silver Brothers. Bob proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later with the National Guard.
He was a man of God who enjoyed going to flea markets, feeding the birds, landscaping and loved animals. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Steve (June) Johnson and Sharon Johnson both of Wooster; Grandchildren, Tim Fry, Brice Tarpley and Jody Hile and 4 great-grandchildren and a sister, Christine Miles of Newcomerstown. Also, his beloved canine companion, Shylee.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Alison Johnson and 7 brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Reedsburg Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Highland Church of God, 669 W. Highland Ave., Wooster
