WOOSTER “ Brenda Ray Durden, 64, of Wooster passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 with her family lovingly surrounding her at Orrville Pointe in Orrville.
She was born on July 14, 1949 in Orrville, Ohio to Harriet (Connor) and Eddie Hue Ray.   She graduated from Orrville High School.   Brenda began her Christian journey as a member of the First Baptist Church of Orrville where she sang with the Gospel Olivettes.   She then became a member of the Second Baptist Church in Wooster.
Brenda retired from the Gerstenslager Company after 26 years of service and she also worked at Goodwill Industries.   Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and a close second was her fillin puzzle books.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Earl and sisters Cherylynn and Mary Dean Ray.
Brenda leaves to mourn two daughters, Victoria Hunter of Wooster and Sylvia (Christopher) Durden of Ashland; grandsons, James Hunter and Aaron Durden; siblings, Rosalene Wallace, Carolyn Ray and Leo (Leah) Ray of Wooster, Maggie Jo Scrutchions of Detroit, Michigan and Edward Ray of Apple Creek and grand dog œDayzie  aka œPug  and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday evening, March 14, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 245 S. Grant St., Wooster with the Rev. Rickey Brown, Sr.  officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
Those who wish may make contributions to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
The family would like to thank Dr. Masci, LifeCare Hospice and Orrville Pointe for their acts of kindness during her time of need.
