WOOSTER – Carl œJoe Grassman, 82, left his earthly vessel to seek his heavenly reward on Monday, April 24th, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. His 5 children remain at loggerheads as to which one of them was his favorite. Thus concludes the life of a man who loved without favor, gave without asking the cost, and knew the value of humor and decency. Joe will be remembered for his quiet wit, his hearty guffaw, his deep-seeded faith, his flowers and gardens, his hugs and his dedication to his family.
After serving in the United States Navy, Joe married Susan Riynock and began a 57 year journey of love, fidelity, honor and adventure that will last for eternity.
Joe supported his family through the years as an appliance salesman at Sears and Roebuck and then moved on to Wooster Appliance Center. In his œspare time he repaired almost every broken appliance presented to him.
Surviving in addition to his wife Susie are their five children: Patricia Gould, Carla (Dave) Eighinger, Jennifer (Richard) Hilaman, Andrea Hardesty and Joe (Tina Rose) Grassman, grandchildren: Michael (Mary Anne Edmiston)   and Matthew (Sari Winerman) Gould, Bennett, Hayden and Marrin Eighinger, Kyle Anne Sheridan, Parker and Alaina Hilaman, Dustin Johnson, Lillian and Riley Grassman, Austin and Hunter McBride, Brock and Gus Barber, two great grandchildren: Andrew Gould and Chloe Gould. Also surviving are two siblings: Lucille Gaumer and Andy (Julie Riynock) Grassman, sister and brother in laws: Patricia (Gary) Stumbaugh, Mary Lee (Kenneth) Myers, Jim (Karen) Hercules, cherished friend Charles McBride, former son in law Michael Gould and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lillian (Martin) Grassman, nine siblings and spouses: Herman (Ruth Riffel, Betty North), Marie (Don) Pittaway, Mabel, Velma (Robert) Uhl, Louise (Barney) Miller, Georgie, Edna (Maynard) Hardin, Marcella Hercules and Glenna (David) Baker and Keith Gaumer, one grandson Davis Lee Eighinger.
