WOOSTER – Christel J. White left this world January 17 after a long battle with heart disease, to be with her beloved husband, Frederick A. White, who passed away in 2008. She was born December 17, 1933 in Dortmund, Germany to Paul and Auguste Junker.
In 1957 Christel married Fred, in Augsburg, Germany. They moved in 1964 to Ft. Knox, Kentucky where Fred served in the Army. While living in Ft. Knox, she volunteered for several organizations and received a letter of recommendation from the commanding General for her work. They moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1968. It was there that she earned her U. S. citizenship in 1969. After Fred retired from the military they moved to Wooster, Ohio where she resided for the rest of her life. Chris retired from Rubbermaid after 27 years of service with the title of International Marketing and Sales Administrative Manager.
Christel was an active member of the Colony Club and the Wooster Women’s Civic Club where she held the title of president three times. She was also on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross where she participated, for many years running the annual Festival of Trees.   She loved playing bridge and was in several clubs where she could enjoy the members and the game.   She was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Her parents preceded her in death, as did her husband and brothers: Siegfried, Otto Karl, and Hans Joachim.   Surviving in Germany are her sister Ursula Junker of Ochsenfurt, as well as nieces and nephews.   Also surviving is a cousin of Fred, Betty J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Stephan Moran as celebrant.   Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville at 1:45 PM where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wooster Chapter of the American Red Cross, 244 W South St, Wooster, OH 44691 or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave, Wooster, OH 44691.
