WOOSTER “ Donald Ray Mortimer, 72, of Wooster, went to be with the angels, on Thursday, May 24 at Danbury Woods. He was surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born November 23, 1945, in Akron to David and Ruth Mortimer. Marie Elaine Miller (Nolletti) and he married on July 13, 1986.
From 1966-1968, he proudly served in the U.S. Army.
For over 30 years, he was a kindhearted State Farm Insurance Agent. Don had previously worked for the Wooster Police Department for 12 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and expressed his civic pride through participating in community organizations like the Wooster Exchange Club and the American Red Cross.
Don possessed a generous heart. He was an adoring husband, father, and friend. He could frequently be seen mowing, caring for the Mortimer golden retrievers, cradling his cat Morty, golfing, pulling pranks, and watching crime shows.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Marie, are his children and their partners and grandchildren: Tim (Christine) Mortimer and Mollie (Jerry) Pemberton of Michigan, Richard (Camille McKinley) Miller of Columbus, Donald (Jill) Mortimer of Colorado, and Katherine (Dan Bolton) Mortimer of Wooster; grandchildren Melody and Abigail Pemberton, Hawk Mortimer and Jake Guggenhime. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday, May 29 from 6:00-8:00 PM. A Rosary service will precede at 5:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave. Wooster, Ohio.
