WOOSTER “ Dorothy Ginther, 81, of Wooster passed away at her home on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
She was born August 3, 1934 in West Salem the daughter of Floyd and Mary Ellen Sieb Cornelius.   She married Ross E. Ginther on October 8, 1955.   He preceded in death on November 24, 1995.
She retired after 30 years of service from Borg Warner.   She was a member of the Parkview Christian Church.   Dorothy was a very active member of the Republican Party having been a member of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women State President from 2001-2005 and she was a delegate or alternate for seven Republican National Conventions.   She served as chairwoman of the Wayne County Republican Party for 30 years retiring at the end of 2012
She volunteered for Every Woman ™s House, the Salvation Army and she was a tenacious fund raiser who worked the crowd and wouldn ™t take NO for an answer, most people were afraid to say no to her.   So they opened up their wallets and gave freely.
For 20 or 30 years, she spent every afternoon at the city pool with her summer friends, she had been a Wayne Elementary playground supervisor and was involved with the PTA.   She was a Tribute to Women Honoree in 1986.
She loved her family and was proud of each one of them.   Words that describe Dorothy are kind, determined, gracious and sociable.   She never met a stranger.   She was spunky and a passionate patriot and was one that made things happen.   She was an accomplished soloist and sang at the Kane ™s wedding.   She would sing God Bless America with a passion.   Dorothy also baked a mean peach pie.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Jeff (Rebecca) Ginther of Fredericksburg and Chris (Lisa) Ginther of Victor, New York; grandchildren, Ashley Ginther, Natalie Ginther and Catie Ginther, a great-grandchild, Keslynn Quick and a sister, Treva Arnold of Wooster.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Valerie Ginther on November 8, 1989 and by siblings, Donna Beegle, Lena Lang, Ruby Renneker, Doris Dilyard and Harold and Kyle Cornelius.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 5-8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkview Christian Church, 1912 Burbank Rd., Wooster with Mr. Bobby Warren officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
