WOOSTER – Dorothy Rose Tyler, 104, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster.
She was born May 25, 1912 in Wooster, the daughter of George F. and Emma Boeshart Buchholz. She married Eugene H. Tyler on June 28, 1939. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2002.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Freedlanders and the former Gruter Foundation for 20 years. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, the National Council of Catholic Women and Mission Circle #8. She was a lifetime volunteer visiting countless nursing homes and helping those in need.
Dorothy had a love of family, people, sewing, gardening and the outdoors and traveling the world. She had an adventurous spirit that contributed to her longevity and she touched the lives of anyone who knew her.
Surviving are her children, Eugene (Linda) Tyler of Canton, Margaret (Steve) Durkin of N. Canton, Patrick (Suzanne) Tyler of Indiana, Barbara (Don) Baker of Wadsworth and Mary (Tim) Zuercher of Wooster; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Walter Buchholz, Grace Seib and Father Paul Buchholz and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 5-8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Stephen Moran as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
