Evelyn E. King, 96, of Wooster died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Danbury Woods.
She was born December 13, 1919 in Mill Creek Township in Holmes County to Otto W. and Bessie Kaser Lowe.   Evelyn was the devoted wife of James H. King, who preceded her in death in 1988.
Evelyn graduated from Clark High School and from the White Cross Beauty School that was located in downtown Cleveland.   While her husband served his country during World War II, she worked at a beauty salon in Louisiana.   Her first shop was in Killbuck.   She owned and operated The Beauty Center in Wooster from 1938-2002 with locations on North Street, the 345 Building and in the Ramada Inn.   She was an active member of Central Christian Church, Quota International of Wooster, Wayne Township Housekeepers, The Hairdressers Association, Eastern Star, and the Salvation Army Auxiliary.
She is survived by her niece Jean (Richard J.) Bechtel; great nephews Richard M. (Heather) Bechtel, Jeffrey S. (Melissa) Bechtel and Bradley L. Bechtel; great-great nieces and nephews Scott, Natalie, R.J., Jake, Brice and Eric Bechtel.
Along with her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Warren W. Lowe and a sister-in-law Evelyn M. Lowe.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, dear daughter, sister, sister-in-law and a much beloved aunt and friend to many.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster with Rev. Robin Myers officiating.   Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  
Friends will be received from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
