WOOSTER “ Evelyn J. Zimmerman, 85, of Wooster, passed away on March 29, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice of Wooster.   She was born on November 2, 1930 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Clayton and Ruby (Frazier) Bachelder.   She was raised in Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School in 1948.   She married Marty Zimmerman on September 11, 1948 in Covington, Kentucky.
Friends will be received 2 hours prior to the 12:00 Noon service on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Art Carr officiating.   Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
She initially worked at the Westinghouse plant in Mansfield.   Then Evelyn and her husband worked side-by-side building a retail music store with store fronts in Mansfield, Wooster, and Medina.   Evelyn brought the magic of music into the lives of her countless organ students over the years.   Evelyn was a member of the First Church of God on Akron Road and served as the church organist and choir accompanist for sixteen years.    Music filled her life and her heart.
Evelyn and Marty moved to Wooster in 1962 and raised their four daughters with an emphasis on work ethic and church attendance.   Spring breaks were always a time for spring cleaning “ not vacationing.   Evelyn was stronger than a locomotive in her Christian faith, faster than a runaway pony (proven), and able to leap over what others would find to be insurmountable tasks.   We always believed that she did have eyes in the back of her head when it came to her children and grandchildren.   She will be forever missed by her loving family.   We are secure in the knowledge that she and Marty are again gliding over the dance floor together to the tunes of a big band orchestra.
Surviving are daughters, Renee (Daral) Jackwood, Carol (Jim) Sturges, and Candy (Mark) Watts, her sisters, Wanda (Robert) Martin and Janet (Bachelder) Witchey and sister-in-law Clara Bachelder, as well as thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, plus one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Richard Bachelder, Bernard Bachelder and Donald Bachelder, her daughter and son-in-law, Bruce and Becky Talbott, and a grandson, Donovan Missler.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691 in Evelyn ™s memory.
