WOOSTER – Helen M. Mimi Moore, 77, of Wooster, after a brave year-long fight toregain her health, passed away Monday, August 18 at Akron City Hospital with herfamily by her side.
She was born August 22, 1936, in Smithville OH, the daughter of Thurman Jay and JanetWalter Mishler. She married Harold Moore on November 2, 1958, having 55+ years ofmarriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Roger Jay Mooreof Wooster; Andy Moore and Andy’s wife, Susan, and grandson Eric Moore of ,Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Sara (Jerry) Holderfield of North Royalton, OH; sister-in-law PatMishler of Killbuck, OH, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mimi had worked for over 40 years at The College of Wooster in the Secretarial ServicesDepartment. In her position at the College she would go off campus to learn many newword processing technologies oyer the years and then teach them to others in herdepartment. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster and was veryactive in the WHS Class of 1954.
Her activities after retiring included lunches with some of the women members of theWHS Class of 1954. She participated in the Smart Cookie reading program atCornerstone grade school, and assisted Santa with his Christmas mailing program at theWooster Community Center. Along with her son Roger and the family, she attendedseveral mental health conferences in Wooster and Pittsburgh. She also drove a number ofAmish friends on shopping trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Lisa Moore, and a brother, AlanMishler.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 1:00 p.m. service on Wednesday, August 20,2014 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster with the Rev. AnnPaynter officiating. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church.
