WOOSTER “ Howard I. Zuercher, 73, of Wooster passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at West View Healthy Living.
He was born July 22, 1941 in Wooster, the son of Homer and Hazel Snyder Zuercher.   He married Betty Shambaugh on June 10, 1960.   She survives.
He was a Wooster Police Officer and Community Relations Officer for 28 years retiring in 1993.   He attended the First Church of God.   Howard was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Mustang Club.
Howard enjoyed working with all the children in the schools, helping troubled citizens solve their problems and taking the time to listen and really care.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Debrah Zuercher of Lynchburg, Virginia, several cousins and many close friends who always meant a lot to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. memorial service on Friday, March 6, at the First Church of God, 1953 Akron Road, Wooster with the Rev. Kenneth Thomas officiating.
