WOOSTER “ James Thomas Leighty, 60, of Wooster passed away at his home on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
He was born December 2, 1955 in Wooster.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was Sigonella, Italy Naval Base Sailor of the Year in 1978 with a rank of ABH3.   James attended Wooster High School, The University of Maryland and North Central Technical College.   He had a 6 year career in food service, and a 27 year career in Information Technology.   He retired from Rubbermaid Inc. in 2008 to pursue personal interests.   He was a member of œGod ™s Great Outdoor Cathedral .
He enjoyed reading, fishing, cooking and walking.   He had an obsession with the ocean and loved to sit on the beach for hours at a time cuddled up with a good book and doing some writing.
He is survived by his mother; children Dwayne (Angel) Leighty and Melissa Leighty both of Wooster; 3 grandchildren and brothers, Dan (Norma) Leighty, Bob (Brenda) Schmid and a sister Robin Schmid all of Wooster.   Jim loved his family and he also loved his dog, a Pug, named Reba.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Schmid and a sister, Jeannie Saconni.
James wished to not have formal services, but rather that his loved ones gather privately.   There will be no calling hours but feel free to give your condolences on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 1-4:00 p.m. at 1488 Clover St., Wooster, OH 44691.
