Joan L. Fickes, 83, of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Wooster, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 after a short illness.
Joan was born in Holmesville, Ohio on November 27, 1932 to Ralph C. Stallman and Marie C. Phillabaum Stallman.   She was the second of six children.
Mourning her passing are her Children; Kathy (Steve) Specht of Massillon, Ohio, Mark R. Shamp Sr., of Shreve, Ohio, William (Judy) Fickes, of Wooster, Ohio and Charles Fickes, of San Jose, CA.   Grandchildren: Stephenie (John) Crutchfield, Christine Oxenrider, Steven (Lindsey) Oxenrider, Jonathan Specht, Juliana (Greg) Schwertner, Joshua (Tiffany Orr) Shamp, Mark Shamp Jr., Johanna and Tony Fickes.   Great Grandchildren: Nicholas and Kayla Crutchfield.   A sister; Donna (Levi) Petersheim and a brother; Larry (Van) Stallman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Virgil Fickes and children; Hope Taylor, Cary Oxenrider and Gary Fickes. Brother; Howard Stallman and sisters; Lorena Mae Graham and H. Elaine Turk.
She enjoyed a 38 year career at Wayne County National Bank, retiring as an Assistant Vice President in 1993.   She was a staunch supporter of the Community of Wooster.   She was a beloved mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, Ohio 44691 with her daughter, Kathy Specht officiating.   Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 2-4 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer ™s Association, 408 9th St., SW, Canton, Ohio 44707 or The American Diabetes Foundation or Diabetes.org., in the memory of Joan L. Fickes.   Both dementia and diabetes impacted her life greatly.
