John W. Sargeant, Sr., 80, of Wooster died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at LifeCare Hospice.
He was born January 3, 1935 in Wooster to Francis and Florence Smathers Sargeant.   On March 31, 1952, he married Garnet Stahl.   She survives.
John retired from the Maintenance Department for the City of Wooster in 2000 after 30 years of service.   He loved gardening, flowers, fishing and helping people.   John was always generous with his time and money to those in need.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children Jackie Lepisto of Davidson, NC, Sherry Daugherty, John W. (Karen) Sargeant, Jr., both of Wooster and Tim (Debbie) Sargeant of Goose Creek, SC; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a sister Janice Batdorf of Canal Fulton.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kathy Layland in 2009; brothers Frank, Bob and Bill and sisters Mary Regin and Dorothy Morris.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday November 16, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the Wooster Church of the Nazarene, 3100 Oak Hill Road, Wooster, with Rev. Nathan Ward officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
