WOOSTER – Johnnie D. Daugherty, 78, of Wooster, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Astoria Skilled Nursing Home in Canton after a short battle with cancer.
He was born July 4, 1937 in Wooster to Owen and Frances Snodgrass Daugherty.   On March 19, 1966 he married Thelma Jane Burris at the Wooster Baptist Temple.   They just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  
Johnnie was a graduate of Waynedale High School in 1956 and worked as welder at Orrville Products for 34 ½ years, retiring in 2000.   He served his country in the U.S. Army.   Johnnie was an avid hunter and loved his family, celebrating holidays, family gatherings and watching the Cleveland Cavaliers.   He was a former member of the N.R.A. and Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; sister Jean (Larry) Rowe of Holmesville; nephews Tom (Jan) Lemon, Gary Lemon, Greg (Heidi) Lemon and Michael (Staci) Rowe; nieces Alison Horsley and Krista (Justin) Garver; special friends Tom and Mary Middleton, Dick Bosley and Big Al Mellert along with many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Ray and James Daugherty, sister Bonnie Lemon and a brother-in-law Thomas Lemon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Jerry Craycraft officiating.   Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
