WOOSTER – Lucille (Pagniano) Santangelo, 94, of Wooster, died on Thursday, May 26, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 16, 1921 in Wooster to Donato and Maria Gentile Pagniano.   She married Albert Santangelo on August 28, 1948 in St. Mary Catholic Church of Wooster.   He died August 8, 1995.
She was a graduate of Wooster High School’s class of 1939.   The comment next to her senior yearbook picture said, As happy as the day is long.
She worked for the H. Freedlander Company for several years.   Following that she worked in the Rubbermaid Credit Department until she retired in 1984.   Lucille enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidering and playing piano.   Her passion was cooking for family and friends.   In the 1970’s she had an Italian Recipe Cookbook printed.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years and later served as the librarian for the Music Ministry Department.   She was a member of the Music Club of Wooster.
Lucille is survived by one daughter, Rita (Roger) Peterson of Rocklin, California and sons, John (Denise) Santangelo of Wooster and Stephen (Marie) Santangelo of Dublin, Ohio.   She leaves four grandchildren, Heidi (Adam) Urrutia and Bret (Karly) Peterson of California and Ryan and Patrick Santangelo of Wooster as well as three great-grandchildren, Bryleigh Santangelo of Wooster and Evelyn and Eloise Urrutia of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Pasquale, Augustine, Carl and Anthony and sisters, Mary Campanelli, Caroline Albanese, Margaret Fusi and Angela Pagniano.
Lucille never lost her sense of humor and will be missed dearly by all her friends and family.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6-8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with the Rev. Stephen Moran officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
