WOOSTER “ Minnie Barbara Griffith, 78, of Wooster went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Vitas Hospice in Cincinnati.
She was born April 22, 1938 in Boykin, South Carolina, the daughter of Thomas and Sallie Keys Cantey.   She graduated from Jackson High School.   She was baptized at St. Steven Baptist Church in South Carolina and came to Wooster in 1958 where she met the love of her life, Arthur who preceded her in death on December 22, 2000.
Minnie retired in 1995 after 35 years at Rubbermaid.   She took pride in her work at the Second Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess.   It didn ™t matter what age, color, or background she loved all people.   She was a down to earth person always ready to lend a helping hand, full of laughter and so much love.
She touched everyone she met and left an impression in their hearts.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Dee (George, Jr.) Evans of Mason, Ohio, Brenda Lee (Quanata) Griffith of Akron and Bradley Scott (LeAnn) Griffith of Lewis Center; grandchildren, Atia (Chuka) Anyadiegwu, George Evans, III, Isaiah, Anthony, Ashley and Zachary Griffith and a great-grandson, Noah Anyadiegwu; her siblings, Sallie House, Thomas Cantey and Lula Durden all of Wooster, Bernice Johnson of North Carolina, Betty Crawford of Cleveland, Ronny Cantey of Marion, Ohio and Sadie May White of Shreve.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jimmy and Perry Cantey.
Friends will be received 2 hours prior to the 12:00 noon service on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Second Baptist Church, 245 S. Grant St., Wooster with the Rev. Rickey Brown officiating and Pastor George C. Evans, Jr. doing the Eulogy..   Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Second Baptist Church.
