WOOSTER “ Phillip œLane  Ewing, 77, of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born January 19, 1941 in Apple Creek, the son of Forest Ray and Fern Mary Wilson Ewing. He married Patricia Dilworth on October 17, 1964. She survives.
Lane attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a degree from Montana State University. He worked in the wheat breeding program at the O.A.R.D.C. in Wooster, and later as farm manager of the Agronomy department. After retiring from O.A.R.D.C., he spent time as a delivery driver for agricultural implements, a test driver for Gradall equipment, and in the shipping and packing department of the JM Smucker Co. Store in Orrville. He was a member of St. Peter ™s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia, is a son, Jesse Ewing of Akron, and sisters, Lorene Meier and Rebecca Ewing-Buckner, both of Apple Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Scot Ewing, and a son, Matthew Ewing.
Lane enjoyed the outdoors, riding horses, reading Western novels, and spending time with his dog Marley.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster from 4 “6:00 p.m.
Services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter ™s United Church of Christ, 68 W. Main St., Apple Creek with the Rev. Stephen W. Broache officiating.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Peter ™s United Church of Christ or to the Wayne Co. Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster.
