WOOSTER Rebecca Sue Becky Mathys, 62 of Wooster went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Wooster Community Hospital following a sudden illness.
She was born November 23, 1953, in Orrville, the daughter of Marvin L. and Zola L. Kollert Nussbaum. She married Richard L. Mathys on December 21, 1974. He survives.
She was a homemaker, an experienced seamstress, enjoying quilting, knitting and rug weaving. Becky enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and the Prayer Shawl Ministry at West Hill Baptist Church. She volunteered at MCC in Kidron. She was a member of the West Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Robert L. (Tara) Mathys and Ryan J. (Tracy) Mathys both of Wooster; her grandchildren, Peyton L. Mathys, Cohen J. Mathys and Charlotte R. Mathys, a sister, Ruth (Russ) Schwartz of Carmel, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John M. Nussbaum.
Friends will be received at West Hill Baptist Church, 2241 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 6-8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at West Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Wingate and Eric Fairhurst officiating. Private burial will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
