WOOSTER “ Regina Drouhard Knight, 90, of Wooster, went to be in the Loving Hands of Father God, on Monday, April 23, 2018.   She resided at Crystal Care Center in Ashland for the past year.
She was born February 5, 1928 in Wooster, the daughter of Albert and Belle Schafer.   She married Robert F. Drouhard on May 3, 1952 (for 19 years), the father of her 5 children, and married Denver Knight (8 years) in 1977.
She worked as a secretary at Rubbermaid, and then as a Therapeutic Program Worker at Apple Creek Developmental Center for 21 years, where she received many awards of achievement.   Regina was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Ladies of the Moose, the Compatibles Club and Aquamaids.  She excelled at bowling in leagues at Triway Lanes and Wayne Lanes in Wooster, and enjoyed bingo and playing cards with her many friends.   Gina ™s daughter Sandi and she enjoyed traveling to Florida and going on other trips whenever possible, and enjoyed the ocean, the outdoors, swimming, fishing, camping, shopping, dining out and going to musical events together. Gina also loved watching the Indians; Gina went to Cleveland to live games with her daughter Debbie and son John.   Debbie and her mother also enjoyed going to musical events and other events together.   She enjoyed a very active life with all her kids, her siblings and her friends.  She had many small dogs that she loved in her life, and she loved the neighborhood children who visited her often.   Regina was a beautiful, creative and energetic lady who enjoyed singing and dancing the jitterbug in her youth.   She was a soprano singer and often sang œAve Maria  at her church and at weddings.
Regina is survived by her children, Deborah Drouhard Sword, Thomas Drouhard, John Drouhard all of Wooster, Sandra Drouhard (Kenneth) Phillips of Loudonville, and Roberta œBobbi  Drouhard of Shreve; grandchildren, Melanie Rowland, Serena Sword (Nate Fries), Ben (Hannahlee) Drouhard, and Beth Drouhard (Chris) Leipler; great-grandchildren, Alyssa (Mason) Legg, Michael and Jenna Rowland, a great-great-granddaughter Gracie May Legg, and a great-great-grandson Anderson Fries; siblings, Jacqueline Docherty Mintz of Ontario, Canada, Ronald Schafer and Joyce Chenevey both of Wooster, Elaine (Bill) Forrer of Dalton, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Corrine (Dwight) Elliott and Joan Schafer.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a rosary service at 1:15 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, with the Rev. Stephen Moran as celebrant.   Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.
Regina ™s family would like to thank the friends and family members who visited her often, and they also would like to thank the caregivers at Crystal Care, for their hard work, care and compassion. Thanks also to Pathways Hospice for their care of Regina during her last days.
