WOOSTER – Richard J. Taylor (Rich), of Wooster and formerly Dayton, Ohio
went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at LifeCare Hospice of Wooster, after a 16 month battle with cancer.
Born on May 4, 1954, he was the son of George and Barbara(Watercutter) Taylor, of Wooster.
Rich graduated from North College Hill High School in 1972.
Rich made his home in Wooster, in 1973, with his parents until 1982when he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, to start his career as asalesman for carbide tooling. Moving on to Cincinnati and then toDayton, Ohio where he made his home for the last 27 years, beforereturning to Wooster when he was diagnosed, to be with his family.
Rich had a love for dancing, andwas very good at it. In the late1970’s, Rich along with his sister, Denise taught hundreds of energeticpeople to line and ballroom dance through classes at the WoosterCommunity Center.
Rich so fondly loved to reminisce about the people that he met andbecame friends with during those years and made him happy when hewould visit Wooster and people would remember him and tell himhow much fun they had and are still dancing.
Rich also had a love for the ocean and the wonders that lie beneath.He went on to get his Scuba Instructor certification and exploredmany areas of the Caribbean Sea as well as the Pacific ocean thatsurrounds the beautiful Hawaiian islands. He could tell you all thegreat spots to see to get the most amazing experience from what theoceans had to offer. ,All yo;u had to do was ask him what he saw andhe could talk about it for hours and loved to share the photos that hecaptured during his explorations.

Being an avid motorcyclist, Rich took great pride in his ownmotorcycle that he named Cheyanne and would jump at anyopportunity to enjoy the open roads and warm weather, riding withfriends and family. He was great at planning trips and events that hisfriends or family wanted to enjoy with him. In 2013, he planned thetrip to Sturgis, South Dakota with several friends. In the months afterand up to his final days, he would continue to reminisce about themiles he rode, the fun he had and encouraging other motorcyclists tomake the trip to see the beauty that he experienced over thehundreds of miles that he rode.

Being very athletic and competitive, Rich loved the game of golf. Henever missed watching the televised golf tournaments and always hadhis favorltes, He enjoyed many trips over the years to major golfcourses in several states, with his friends that shared the love of thegame.
A hunter from a young age, Rich took up the sport of bow hunting andexcelled in IBO (International Bowhunters Organization) shoots acrossmany states. Again, if anyone wanted to learn the sport, he waswilling to teach everything he knew and continue to help you getbetter.
Rich had a very big heart and made many friends through. his life andwas admired and loved a great deal.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, siblings; Thomas Taylor (ConnieHinerman) of Orrville; Denise (Michael) Dhayer and Deanna (Olen)Schlabach both of Shreve. Nieces and nephews; Dustin (Kristin)Taylor, Dori (Nathan) Eggan, Tara Figura (Brett Besancon), Alex
Dhayer, Corey Schlabach (Tiffany Fox-Cogar), Noel Schlabach (EddieSchafrath), Mariah Schlabach, Gavin Schlabach and several greatnieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends, Friday, August 14 from 5-7 PM, at Mcintire,Bradham and Sleek Funeral Home, Wooster Ohio, with a time ofsharing directly following calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial willbe held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 15 at St. Marys CatholicChurch, Wooster, Ohio.
The family would like to thank the staff of LifeCare Hospice for makingRich’s final days as comforting as they could.
