Wooster – Ronald K. Baney left this earth on November 12, 2015, surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends.
Born in Wooster on October 3, 1961, to Donald W. and Martha J. Baney, Ron was a graduate of Triway High School, where he competed on the wrestling team. A motor vehicle accident in June, 1992, made him a paraplegic; as such he was prone to a myriad of medical issues, one of which ultimately took his life.
Prior to his accident, Ron was employed in the family business, Quality Fiber Glass, working alongside his dad and learning the business from the ground up. He started his own venture, Baney Racing Fiber Glass, and for many years supplied parts to local stock car racers. He was an avid racing fan all his life and traveled to amateur stock car and NASCAR races.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Abe J. Keim, and great niece Ella Young, he is survived by siblings Sandra Keim, Debra Baney, Donald (Linda L.) Baney and Linda J. Baney; nephews Donald (Andrea), Michael, and David (Heidi) Baney and niece Michelle Young; great nieces Emma Young, McKenna, Madelynn, Vea and Cora Baney and great nephew Ethan Young. He also leaves many cousins and lifelong friends.
An animal lover, Ron is survived by his feline companions Dixie and Belle, who brought him much joy and comfort in the last years of his life.
Over the past 23 years, Ron was fortunate to have a number of excellent, caring doctors, nurses and caregivers who made a difference in his quality of life, not the least of whom were his three sisters who were devoted to him. To everyone who helped along the way, we offer our thanks and gratitude to you.
Ron was intelligent and insightful, and we will miss his dry humor, myriad of facts both trivial and significant and constant reminders that he was Mom and Dad’s favorite child. Though his life here was difficult, now Ron walks again and is at peace.
