WOOSTER “ Virginia Lipscomb Conrad, 95, of Wooster passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Danbury of Wooster.
Virginia was born January 24, 1923 in Lexington, Kentucky.       She was the daughter of Dr. William Nunn Lipscomb and Edna Porter Lipscomb.
She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1944 with high distinction and worked for Proctor and Gamble for three years.     Her graduate studies were in the area of Christian Education.     She served for two years as Director of Christian Education at the Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church in Lexington.     She also performed social work for the state of Kentucky.
On Dec 11, 1959, she married Russell Conrad and moved to Wooster, Ohio.   She was a member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher at Zion Lutheran Church for many years.     She was a member of Thursday Club and Viola Thorne Club.   She volunteered at Wooster Community Hospital and for the American Cancer Society.     She enjoyed participating with her husband in growing, showing and judging dahlias.
Her sister, Helen Lipscomb, and her brother, William N. Lipscomb, Jr., are deceased.
She is survived by her husband, her children, Jean Conrad Shackle and Janet Conrad, her son-in-law, Vassili Papavassiliou, grandchildren Christine Shackle and Jennifer Duffy, Jennifer ™s husband Nick Duffy and great grandchildren Quinn and Taylor Duffy.
A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster at 11 AM, Friday April 27 with the Rev. Ann Paynter officiating.   Visiting hours begin at 10 AM.       A service in celebration of her life is planned for the near future.
