Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and neighbor. For much of her married life she was a secretary at Wooster High School and Grant Street Elementary School and at the Central Office. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, playing cards, sewing and spending time with her fabulous neighbors, good friends and loving family.
Esther was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, a volunteer for meals on wheels and in her most recent years, a well loved resident of Bayou Manor Retirement Community in Houston. She had formerly lived on North Smyser Road and Grant Street in Wooster.
Surviving are her sons, Gary L. (Catherine A. Witte) Zimmerman of Houston, TX and Ken R. (Doreen A.) Zimmerman of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Adam and Stephanie Zimmerman of Dublin and Julia and Geoffrey Zimmerman of Houston, TX; sisters, Ruth Miller of Wooster and Fayanna Beichler of Smithville and a brother, Wilbur Spade of Wooster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Charles Zimmerman,
in 1993 whom she married in 1953 and brothers Carl and Charles Spade.
If desired, feel free to make donations to the American Heart Association in Esther’s memory in lieu of flowers.
