WOOSTER – John E. Barker Sr. 72 of Wooster died Friday Feb. 29, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Tuesday March 4, 2008 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with Pastor Tom McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday March 3 , 2008 from 7-9 P.M.
He was born July 1, 1935 in Holmes County the son of Roy R. and Anna May O’Leary Barker.
John retired from Rubbermaid in 2005 after 50 years of service. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He grew up in the Bigelow United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Geneology Society and the Wayne County Historical Society.
Surviving are his children: John E. (Susan) Barker Jr. of Apple Creek, Robert E. (Laurie) Barker of Wooster, Vesta (Tom) Haver of Dover, Lisa Marie Barker, of Wyoming, and Gwenna Jane Barker of Wooster. 2 sisters; Mary Martin of Wooster, and Alice Watkins of Morgantown Kentucky. 9 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Auretta Barker, Dorothy Edinger, Roy Barker Jr., Florence Barker, Ray Barker, and Sue Barnes.
