Arthur McKinnly Strickland was born August 4, 1938 to the late Rev. William Preston and Gertrude Strickland in Fireco, WV. He departed this life, Friday, May 2, 2008 at St. John Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. W. Strickland and Gertrude Strickland, three sisters, Alberta Conrad, Mazie Tarpley and Glendora Strickland.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Minister Josephine Strickland of Westland, MI, one daughter Marjorie, one son, Elia Kim I. Strickland of South Lyon Michigan. Two Step-sons V. Lamont Campbell of Detroit, MI and Todd of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. One step-daughter, Vonnie and one step-granddaughter, CeAnika Campbell of Detroit. Two brothers Robert of New York and William of Pennsylvania. Three sisters, Gloria Wagner of Maryland, Reatha Morris of Bratenal, OH and Gladis Turner of Wooster, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends including his staff. Mr. Strickland was an entreprenuer in the Wayne/Westland area. He owned and operated his business for 34 years.
Services will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon at the Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster with Pastor Jaunetta Romaine and Bishop Lottie M. Smith officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
