WOOSTER – Wido P. GALLO, 84, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008 at West View Manor Nursing Home.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday from 7-9:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Mary Catholic Church Monday, June 9, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Daniel Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Born February 29, 1924 in Salem, OH, he was the son of Frank and Julia DeLucca Gallo. He attended St. Mary’s grade school and Wooster High School in the class of 1943. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy serving in WWII and was a boatswain’s mate second class aboard the USS Pecos AO65 for three years.
On January 29, 1949 he married Patricia Palus at St. Mary’s Church in Wooster. She survives. They had been married 59 years. They had three daughters: Kathleen (Chuck Malta) Gallo, Deborah Malta and Nancy Baxter all of Wooster. Grandchildren Halle and Bryan Gallo-Malta of Wooster, Michael and Dominic Malta of Charlotte, NC, Shanna Baxter of Springfield, OH and Cassandra Baxter of Columbus; Step grandchildren Todd Malta of Denver, CO and Matt Malta of Charlotte, NC and a brother Paul Gallo of Wooster.
Wido and his brother, Paul, were partners in an excavating business known as Gallo & Sons, Inc. which was started by their father, Frank. Wido serving as president and general manager. Gallo & Sons, Inc. was in business 53 years before the brothers retired.
Member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a past president of Wayne Co. Builders Exchange, past member of 20/30 Club, Wooster Coon Hunters Club, a member of Wooster Elks Lodge #1346 and the Knights of Columbus #789.
He and his wife enjoyed living in Ft. Myers, Florida in the winter during the past 20 years, where he pursued his love of golf.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Theresa Cutter.
