GAHANNA – Milton J. LONG, 85, of Gahanna and formerly of Wooster passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 in Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
He was born August 19, 1923 in Wooster, the son of Milton Sr. and Hazel Sellers Long.
He was a 1942 graduate of Wooster High School and had been a Sales Manager. He was a past president and member of Wooster Evening Lions and had served his country with the U.S. Armny during WWII with the 14th Armored Division in Europe. He was in the Ohio National Guard through the Korean War with the 447th Civil Affairs Company from 1954 through 1983 and retired as a Lt. Colonel. During his military career he earned a Bronze Star with V, Metorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory medal..
Surviving are wife, Mary A. Littell Long, whom she married in August of 1946; his children, Gregory A. (Kathy) Long, Roger W. (Nancy) Long and Sharon M. (Ron) Smolinka; grandchildren Nathan T. (Melissa) Long, Matthew A. Long, Hope Long, Robin (Vince) Moore and Maxwell W. Long; great-grandchildren Lauren, Lynsey, Kayla, Nicole and Clayton.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Larry T. Long.
Private family services will be held.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday from 5-7:00 P.M.
