WOOSTER – Loyd Steve DALTON, 91, of Wooster passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born October 19, 1917 in Ashland County, the son of Blaine and Fern Rowland Dalton.
He was a 1935 graduate of Savannah High School. After high school he worked for Union Mallable in Ashland and he then farmed from 1941 to 1943 near Jeromesville. In 1943 he started in the Oil and Gas Business drilling wells and still is–establishing Dalton and Hanna in Wooster in 1948. He was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church. Loyd was an avid softball player having pitched for three or four teams including Faultless Rubber and some Y teams. He was a charter member of the Savannah Lions Club.
Surviving are wife, Dorcus Dinsmore Dalton, whom he married August 18, 1941; a daughter, Shirley (Terry) Gardner of Wooster and a son, David (Pam) Dalton of Wooster, granddaughters Amy Gardner, Brianna, Summer and Marissa Dalton and a brother, Harold of Ashland County.
Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wallace and sisters Lois McBride and Lucille Bauckman.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening, March 19, 2009 from 6-8:00 P.M.
Services will be held at Funeral Home, Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice..
