DELAWARE – James C. SHANKLIN, 88, of Delaware, formerly of Wooster passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Arbor’s Nursing Home in Delaware.
He was born December 2, 1920 in Massillon the son of Chester and Edna Royer Shanklin.
He had been a farmer and had worked for Diebold as an assembler. He was a member of the Methodist faith and had served his country with the U. S. Army during WWII earning 4 bronze stars.. He was a member of the Moose Lodge the V.F.W. and AMVETS.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette E. Blaisdell Shanklin, whom he married December 25, 1946, his children Kendra (John) Martin of Prospect, Karen Taylor of Arroyd Grande CA, Keith (Wendy) Shanklin of Louisville OH , Kevin Shanklin of Wooster and Kristie Brooks of Tulsa, OK, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother, Dwaine Shanklin of Massillon.
James was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kathie and brothers, Glenn & Allen Shanklin.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 4-7:00 P.M.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the Activities fund at the Arbors of Delaware 2270 Warrensburg Rd. Delaware, Ohio 43015 or the Outreach dpartment at the Delaware County Library district 84 E. Winter St. Delaware, Ohio 43015.
