WOOSTER – Buell Gainer MCCULLEY, 89, of Wooster passed away May 3, 2009 in Wooster surrounded by his family.
He was born October 25, 1919 in Mansfield the son of Robert W. and Harriet Lauer McCulley.
He had been a truck driver and had worked at Gerstenslagers and retired as a mechanic for Walter Jones Construction after 35 years of service. He attended Central Christian Church. Buell was a 47 year member of Ebenezer Lodge #33 F &Am and had served as post commander and was a 56 year member of American Legion Post 68 of Wooster. Served his country with the 82nd Air Borne Division of the U.S. Army in Africia, Sicily, Italy, Ireland, England, France, Holland and Germany earning a bronze star in 480 days of combat duty.. On May 3, 2008, he took the Honors Flight to Washington, D.C..
Surviving are daughters, Cherryl (Daniel) Berlin and Melva Homer both of Wooster; grandchildren Brian Underwood, Andrea & (Chris) Jeffers, Carly Underwood and Quin & Logan Homer; great-grandchildren Taryn & Brianna Jeffers, Chase Underwood, Carson Sadecki, Sydney Underwood and Adlih Sadecki.
Buell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years, Gladys Rivers McCulley, on September 4, 2007 and a brother Robert W. McCulley, Jr.
Graveside Services will be held at the Wooster Cemetery on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers Contributions may be made to the Hilltop Villa, 3084 Old Lincolnway West, Wooster, OH 44691 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne Co., 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
