WOOSTER ? Mark Tickton of Wooster passed away May 6, 2009 unexpectedly at his home at the age of 51.
He was born in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa. He attended a prestigious private high school named St. Stithians College in Ranburg, Republic of South Africa. He served his compulsory military service in the South African Air Force.
He received a condensed Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa. He immigrated to the United States in 1991 and received a Bachelors of Science in Landscape Architecture, Cum Laude, at City College in New York City.
He worked at investment Bank B.N.P. Paribas for many years before moving to Wooster with his wife, Barbara. He was currently enrolled at Wayne College, Orrville as a full time pre-nursing student where he served as the president of the new Nursing Club. He had planned to attend the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Akron.
Mark was well liked by his friends and neighbors and was known as an avid gardener. He cherished his four miniature dachshunds, Alexander, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Samantha.
Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara J. (Harmony) Tickton and his mother, Valerie Tickton of Cape Town, South Africa, his sisters Heather McEnhill of Sydney, Australia, Meryl (Derek)Manas, niece Erin Manas of Ponteland, England, his Uncle James Tickton of Durbanville, South Africa, in-laws, John A. (Janola) A. Harmony of Shreve, sisters-in-law, Debra S. Harmony of Uniontown, Brenda (Bryan) Alaura, nephew Sean Chapman of Shreve, nieces Kristy, Kerry Alaura of West Salem, OH, Aunt Sandra and Uncle Daniel Myers of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Tickton of Cape Town, South Africa.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
