WOOSTER – Arthur Richard DAVIS, 92, of Wooster passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 in the West View Manor Nursing Home.
He was born August 27, 1916 in Jeffersonville, OH, the son of Arthur Richard and March Hosier Davis.
He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1934 and attended Indiana Technical College at Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He had worked for the Railroad and was a self-employed fruit farmer having owned and operated Moreland Fruit Farm and Davis-Melrose Fruit Farm. He had served on the Board of Goodwill Industries and the Salvation Army. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was an active member of the Wooster Rotary Club..
Surviving are his sons, A. Daniel Davis of Mount Vernon, Douglas B. (Gloria) Davis of St. Paris and Bruce N Davis of Frankfort; a granddaughter, Christine (Andrew) Hoppe.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara Jean Junk Davis, in 2006, his daughter, J. Diane Dunham in 1989, a granddaughter Lora Davis and brothers, David and Ray Davis.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster 1 hour prior to the 10:30 A.M. service on Monday, May 18, 2009 with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Ohio.
