WOOSTER – John J GRANDE, 83, of Wooster passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1926 in Wooster the son of John and Antonietta Massaro Grande.
He retired as a foreman from International Paper after 40 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Lamplighters. John was an avid gardener and loved cooking and his family. Served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII
Surviving are wife, Josephine Lento Grande, to whom he had been married 61 years; his children Cindy Grande-Giffin and her husband Marty Giffin of Poway, CA, Marianne (Jim) Gasser, Rita Grande-Schmel and Tom Harrold and Nancy C Grande all of Wooster; grandchildren Michael Gasser, Sam (Mija) Gasser, Angie (John) Giltner, Amelia and Taylor Giffin, Jenna and Bianca Schmel and Thomas Harrold; great-grandchildren Rebecca, Jacob, Emma and Harley Gasser; his siblings Philomena (William) Wright, Patricia (Richard) Frontz, Eugene Grande, Adrienne Withrow, Marilyn Raby and Rachel (Joe) Conrad all of Wooster, Coletta Baldridge of LaFayette, LA, , Diane (Robert) Martens of Celina, OH and the family pet Sydnie.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George and Francis A Grande, sisters, Janine Wilson and Loretta Harsh.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 5-8:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Moran as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery.
