WOOSTER – Betty J. GIANOTTO, 78, of Wooster passed away Tuesday July 14, 2009 in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland.
She was born June 6, 1931 in Newcomerstown the daughter of Thomas and Laura Smith Hartley.
She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her flowers, was a avid reader, a member of the Red Hat Society, loved to nuture and nourish everyone with her love and wonderful food. She wintered in Florida with her daughters.
As we reflect back on our mother’s life, we are grateful that we had her with us as we were growing up. As children we have special memories. They may be simple, but they left an impression. We also witnessed her strength to our father to help him through his illness.
Surviving are her children, John T. (Barbara) Gianotto of Wooster, Dorothy (Roger) Murphy of Gulf Breeze, FL, Melinda Gianotto of Wooster, Cathy Gianotto of Pensacola, FL, and David A Gianotto of Wooster; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her siblings Robert Hartley of Wooster, Jean Hickerson of McConnellsville, Irene Mills and Harold Hartley both of Zanesville and Polly Garver of Wooster.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dominic J. Gianotto, on October 20, 1994 whom she married June 28, 1952 and sisters, Lucille Gruey and Marge Snyder and a brother Cecil Hartley.
There will be no calling hours.
Private family services will be held.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
