WOOSTER – Joseph M. Perrone, 94, of Wooster, died Sunday, July 19,2009, in West View Manor Nursing Home.
Born September 7,1914, in Folkston, England, he was the son of Anthony and Mary Hoffman Perrone. The Perrone family immigrated to the United States in 1919.
Joseph graduated from Penn State University in 1940 and moved to Pittsburgh, PA , where he worked as a chemist at Mellon Institute. In 1945 he received a Master of Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1954 Joe moved to Wooster where he was employed by Wooster Chemical Company.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Wooster. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society , the Elks and the Masons.
Joseph was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife, Stephanie (Butka) Perrone. Surviving is one sister, Kay Lyons of St. Petersburg Beach, FL; a niece, Stephanie Mucciano, and a great neice, Lynn (Adam) Mucciano-Savage, also of Florida. Also his son, J. Robert (Mary Alice) Perrone of Loudonville; four grandchildren, Pam Perrone of Columbus, Patty (Perrone) (Greg) Ulreich of Mogardore, Stephanie Perrone of New York City, and James Perrone of Loudonville; three great grandchildren, Jessica Bland and Brent and Emily Ulreich.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
