Wooster- Sylvia Elizabeth Chapman, 87, of Wooster died Monday September 7, 2009 at Horn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health.
Sylvia was born November 6, 1921 in Kenova, West Virginia to Elijah and Nannie (Christman) Spencer. She was united in marriage to William T. Chapman on January 15, 1944. He died April 12, 1999. She was a homemaker all her life.
Surviving are children Elizabeth (Francis) Dellafave of Wooster, Helen (Charles) Hunter of Orrville, Jerry (Carol) Chapman of Wooster and David (Sona) Chapman of Dalton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters Carrie Straub of Smithville, Shirley (Ralph) Swartz of Baltimore, OH and Pauline (Earl) Watts of Rittman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St, Wooster on Wednesday September 9th from 6-8 PM. Services will be held on Thursday September 10th at 1:30 pm at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Eshelman officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Omar, Elijah Jr. and Cecil.
