WOOSTER – Ronald Eugene MOON, 72 of Wooster, went to see his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 19, 2009 after a six month battle with brain cancer.
He was born November 18, 1936 in Barberton , the son of Rufus and Gladys Hogue Moon.
After graduating from Barberton High School, Ron served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. After the service, he worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the Tire Testing and Research Division for 27 years retiring in 1987. After his retirement he attended the Traynor Police Academy and then worked as a police officer in Canal Fulton. For several years, Ron and his wife Carolyn, owned and operated a residential painting company. Ron was an avid hunter, loved his gardening and his cat, Bobo.
Surviving are wife, Carolyn Rhoades Moon, whom he married August 20, 1976; his sons, Ronny, Keven, Scott and Christopher Moon all of KY; step-daughters, Tanya Heinz Carter of Wooster and Teresa Heinz Housel of MI, sisters, Norma Jean Yard of Calif and Wilma Baranchick of Akron.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Velma McMaster and brothers, Donald and Kenneth Moon.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held in the South Fellowship Hall at the Grace Brethren Church on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Steve Kern officiating. Interment will held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on Monday at 1:00 P.M.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
