WOOSTER – James P. WAGONER, 89, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Smithville Western Care Center.
He was born December 11, 1919 in Massillon, the son of Perlee H. and Elizabeth E Schindler Wagoner.
He was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School and had been the district sales manager for Phelps-Dodge Copper Products Corp. retiring in 1979. He was an active golfer and was involved in many organizations including the medic alert program and volunteered at Wooster Community Hospital.
Surviving are son, James A. (Sallyann) Wagoner of Snellville, GA and a daughter, Paula Jean (Gregory) Dragovich of Strongsville; grandchildren Melinda (Gregory) Miller of Medina, Matthew Dragovich of West Chester, James E. (Erica) Wagoner of Illinois and Trenden (Aneka Swanson) Wagoner of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren Nicholas and Alexander Miller; a brother, G. Donald (Eleanor) Wagoner of Columbus and a special friend, Vivian O’Neill of Wooster.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, The Rev. Mary L. (Reifenschneider) Wagoner, on April 19, 2001 whom he marred March 12, 1944 and sisters Edna Morris, Laura Wagoner, Hardella Studer, Esther Barkan and Evelyn Jones.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster on Friday, November 20, 2009 from 6-8:00 P.M.
A Memorial Services will be held at the Wooster United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Larry Black officiating. Interment will follow in the Dover Burial Park on Saturday at 12:00 Noon.
