WOOSTER – Julius J WADELLA, 81, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born September 23, 1928 in Wellsburg, WV, son of Jacob and Magdalena Koltz Wjotlya (Wadella).
He started as a welder and worked up to being a supervisor at NASA for 32 years working with the original 7 astronauts. Julius was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster and a member of the Assumption Church in Barnesville. He liked watching the Indians and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He worked bingo at the Barnesville Church, was an avid fisherman, golfer, bowler and loved reading westerns.
He had been a Little League coach in Strongsville, a member of Dad’s Club in Brookpark, was a union member and a member of the American Legion. He loved listening to Marty Robbins and George Streit. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. His greatest love was being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He had lived in and loved Strongsville for 22 years, had lived in Quaker City for 14 years, and had lived the past 5 years in Wooster.
Surviving are wife, Mary Ann Sendry Wadella, to whom he had been married 49 years; his children Sue (Douglas) Kaminski of Parma, Laura Wadella and George Spurlock of Cleveland and Chris (Deana) Wadella of Creston; an adopted daughter, Lisa (Bill) Nassar of Independence; grandchildren Jacob, Faith and Matthew Kaminski, Hope Spurlock and Nikki and Mitch Nassar; a brother, Stanley Wadella of Mason.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents, a son J. William Wadella, brothers, John Wadell, Frankie and Joey Wadella, sisters, Mary Wadella, and Geneva Biery.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 4-6:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 1, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Moran as celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland at 2:00 P.M.
