WOOSTER – Howard D ELLIOTT, 85, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in his home.
He was born July 24, 1924 in Seville, the son of H Bayne and Hazel Bowersock Elliott. He married Corrine Schafer on August 24, 1946. She survives.
He had worked at Ray Crow Cleaners and later had owned ABC Cleaners in Akron. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a member of Kiwanis in Fairlawn and was very active in Boy Scouts earning the 1963 Killbuck District Scouter of the year. Howard served his country with the US Army during WWII in Central Europe earning 3 bronze stars.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Dianne (Jim) Howell of Wooster, Phillip (Cheri) Elliott of Naples, FL, and Karen (Ed) Dillow of Stow, OH, grandchildren, Jessica Elliott, Michaela Borneman, Scott Perry, Brenda Elliott, Matthew Dillow, Jimmy Lee Howell, Amy Black, Rod Howell, Laura Haught, Erik Elliott and Rachel Elliott; 17 great-grandchildren, a brother, Clif Elliott of Wooster, sister, Jaynie (Doyle) Miller of California.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Elliott and Micki Swartz and a brother H. Clark Elliott.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday evening from 6-8:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Trenta as the celebrant. Interment will be Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
