WOOSTER – Robert F. SNYDER, 85, of Wooster, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in his home.
He was born August 22, 1924 in Wooster, the son of Roy D and Mary E. Haller Snyder. He married Mary Jane Woodward on January 1, 1943. She died February 12, 1982.
He was a farmer, a thoroughbred horse trainer and had been the Fairgrounds Keeper for the Wayne County Fair Board. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, a member of Ebenezer Lodge #33 F& Am, the York Rite, Scottish Rite and the Al Koran Shrine. Robert was an avid gardener who loved his flowers and sharing them with others.
Surviving are sons, James F. (Dottie) Snyder and Terry R. (Judy) Snyder both of Wooster, daughter-in-law, Diana Snyder of Wooster, grandchildren, Deborah (James) Welch, Douglas J. Snyder, Mollie (Andrew) Farley, Becca (Dan) Fagert, Ryan T. (Di) Snyder, Shawn D. (Evonne) Snyder and Dustin R.H. (April) Snyder; 12 great-grandchildren, brother, William (Edie) Snyder of Lake Placid, FL, special friends, Arlene Hartzler, Jim Jones and Bill Boston.
Robert was preceded in death by parents, son, Richard B.J. Snyder, brothers, Richard H Snyder and Jimmy Snyder.
Friends will be received Friday, June 4, 2010 from 10-12:00 noon with services to immediately follow at the Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Kevan Franklin and Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery.
