DALTON ? Daniel Leroy Thomas, 60 of Dalton passed away on June 3rd.
He was born September 2, 1949 in Wooster to Virgil and Esther Horst Thomas who preceded him in death.
He is survived by brothers Kenneth (Maryellen), of Apple Creek, Jon (Cynthia) of Uniontown, Frederick (Cindy) of Smithville and Joyce Christopher of Orrville.
He was a 1967 graduate of Waynedale High School and attended Kent State University for two years.
Dan was active in a number of service and fraternal organizations. He was past president of the Southeast Local Lions Club. He had served in the Moose Lodge in Orrville and was active at the national level of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was scheduled to receive the Fellowship Degree of Honor from the Moose in July of this year. He was a long time social member of the Orrville VFW and the Sons of Herman in Massillon. He was the Marketing Director for Mooseheart Child City and School, Inc.
Dan was an active sportsman who loved fishing and horse racing. He spent considerable time at his beloved summer home in Huron, OH on the shore of Lake Erie. He followed local high school sports with a passion and also loved College of Wooster Basketball. He had traveled extensively in Europe, the Mediterranean and Egypt.
Dan was employed at JLG Corp. in Orrville. He was a previous small business owner when he purchased Barnhart Sign Co. in Ashland which he later sold.
A gathering of friends will be held Thursday at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster from 6-8:00 p.m.
There will be no funeral services.
He was loved by his family and had an extensive network of friends that he leaves behind.
