ST. CLOUD, FL – Hazel J Fulton Kinney BOWMAN, 102, of Saint Cloud, FL, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Osceola Health Care Center in St. Cloud.
She was born November 3, 1907 in Jackson Twp., Ashland Co., the daughter of Fern R and Maude Smith Fulton.
She was a homemaker and had attended Ashland College and obtained her teaching certificate. She along with her first husband, Paul, were the Matron and Superintendent of the Wayne County Children’s Home for 26 years retiring in 1968. During that 26 years, they served nealy 600 children. It was a home where the family played together, prayed together and the children learned to want to stay together. Hazel was a member of the Eastern Star and the Union Grange.
Surviving are her children, Richard D (Ann) Kinney of Wooster, Ronald F (Carolyn) Kinney of Orrville and Larry D. (Ruby) Kinney of St. Cloud, FL; a step-daughter, Nancy (Richard) Kent of Galion; a brother, Fern R. Jr. (Kathern) Fulton of Lorain; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by parents, her first husband, Paul Kinney on July 18, 1972 her second husband, Ralph E. Bowman in 1991 and a brother, Virgil S Fulton.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. service at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Monday, June 21, 2010 with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
