Esther Pauline (Shriver) Bowman, 85, of West Salem, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family, on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Wooster Community Hospital.
She was born December 17, 1924 and was raised in Shreve.
Esther was a homemaker and worked in the office of the H. Freedlander Company from 1942-1947.
She was a member of Emanuel Old Stone Church.
Esther was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and special grandmother and great grandmother. She looked forward to Sunday afternoons, when her living room would be filled with those she held most dear. She was a gifted writer and blessed friends and family, with her notes and letters. She recorded family memories, special events and holidays in stories, which will be treasures for the generations to come. Each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have patchwork, flannel blankets that she stitched together with love. These will be cherished as reminders of the time she spent thinking about, and planning special things for her family.
Surviving are husband, Donald Bowman Sr., whom she married August 19, 1945 of West Salem; daughters, Donna (Wayne) Hunsberger of Shreve and Diana Snyder of Wooster; son Donald (Joyce) Bowman Jr. of Wooster; grandchildren Michael Hunsberger. Laurie Tate, Molly Farley, Rebecca Fagert, Alyssa Carpenter, Marc Bowman, Emily Garver; great grandchildren Aaron and Laney Hunsberger, Cortney and Tyler Wiles, Ashley and Alexa Tate, Natalie Fagert, Jillian and Lincoln Farley, Colin and Caroline Carpenter; sisters Helen Chapman of Wooster and June Foltz of West Salem and a brother, Glenn Shriver of Jeromesville.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Hazel (Yockey) Shriver and brothers Wayne and Lloyd Shriver.
Services will be held on Tuesday July 13, at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, with Rev. Dan Bartkowiak officiating. Interment will follow in the Mohican Church of the Brethren Cemetery, West Salem.
Friends will be received on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
