Shirley H. Grenert, 87, of Wooster, died Monday July 26, 2010 at Wooster Community Hospital.
She was born December 2, 1922 in Apple Creek, daughter of the late David K. and Leta Ruth (Hackett) Howell.
Shirley married Frank A. Grenert on October 21, 1945. Frank preceded her in death in 2006.
Shirley worked as an Executive Secretary for Buckeye Aluminum, Wayne Savings and Music Department at the College of Wooster from where she retired.
She was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 25 years and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Sarah Rebekah Circle. Shirley was also a founding member and director for the Unity Singers. She spent her winters in Ft. Myers, FL.
Shirley is survived by her children Steve (Barbara) Grenert of Wooster, Mike (Susan) Grenert of Ridgefield, CT and Becky (Keith) Snoddy of South Portland, ME; Seven Grandchildren; Eight Great Grandchildren and a sister, Diane (John) Gordon of Austin, TX.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday July 30 at 11:00 AM at the Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N. Market St., Wooster with Rev. Dr. David Wilcox officiating. Interment will be in Apple Creek Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
Contributions may be directed to either the Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N. Market Street, Wooster or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster.
