WOOSTER – Audrey Geiselman LAUTENSCHLAGER, 79, of Wooster, passed away Friday September 3, 2010 in Horn Care Center where she has been a resident of Horn’s -Sec. B since May 2010. Her husband, children and other family members were present. There will be no calling hours. A private family burial will be held on her husband’s family plot in the Apple Creek Cemetery. A memorial, celebrating Audrey’s life, will be held for family and friends at a later date. McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wooster High School Music Dept. c/o Wooster High School, 515 Oldman Rd., Wooster, OH 44691, to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, Ohio 44685 or to a Charity of donor?s choice.
She was born August 11, 1931 in Moreland, the daughter of Myron and Flora Meeker Geiselman. She married C. Edward Ed Lautenschlager, a 1950 high School classmate, on June 28, 1952. Her family has been long time residents of Wayne County. She was a 1950 graduate of Wooster High School and graduated from the Wooster Business College and became a dedicated wife and mother. She established Lavere Kennels, grooming and showing poodles in obedience and confirmation. She scored a near perfect 199 of 200 points at an Akron Kennel Club Obedience Show with Silver Folli and planned the breeding for and finished a white toy, Lavere Rebel Rouser, to his championship. Rebel went on to win many group and best-in-show awards with a professional handler and in 1964, a national poodle publication recognized Rebel for outstanding confirmation in both the US and Canadian show circuit. Audrey and her husband were charter members of the Western Reserve Poodle Club in Cleveland.
Along with her husband, she served as Co-President of Wooster High School Music Parents and Wooster Swim Club Parents. She was an avid collector of Imperial Glass and was a past member of the National Imperial Glass Collectors Society. Other hobbies included horseback riding with her husband (favorite locations were local Mohican State Forest and western stables in CA and AZ), music concerts, theater and her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 58 years, children Doug Lautenschlager, Linda (Todd) Wagner and Vicki Matheny all of Wooster; Five grandsons, Ian, Shane, Tanner, Chase and Travis and a sister, Berniece Imel of Indianapolis, IN.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and 2 sisters.
The family wishes to recognize the love and care given by all staff members of the Horn Care Center and by Crossroads Hospice.
