WOOSTER – Edith R. SCHAFFTER, 90, of Wooster, passed away October 13, 2010 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
She was born December 31, 1919 in Seneca Co., OH, daughter of William and Lula Chaney Schatzinger.
She was a homemaker and had done catering. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, the Moreland Garden Club, the Women’s Guild and had been a girl scout leader.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol (Tom) Hardy of Wooster and Sharon Dilbone of Columbus; grandchildren Diana (David) McMillen and Jeff (Jody) Hardy, great-grandchildren Rosella, Alexandra and Carolyn McMillen; a sister Glenna Sigler of Dalton and a half-sister Delores Lawrence of Tiffin.
Edith was a loving wife, mother, a doting gramdmotherand a friend to all who met her.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Mildred Rader, her husband Carl E. Schaffter on July 30, 2005 whom she married May 31, 1946 and sisters Thelma Baker and Anna Mae McMahan.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday evening from 7-9:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, October 16, 2010at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Interment will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
